Hardy Oak Elementary School has been selected to become a "Leader In Me" school. This transformational program is focused on developing the whole-child into life long leaders. In order for the students to learn these skills, the counselors and teachers have been trained in Stephen Covey’s "7 Habits." The "7 Habits" are the foundation of the program which drives a leadership style way of life. Hardy Oak counselors and teachers have begun to teach their students the "7 Habits" and have incorporated them into all curriculum. The "Leader in Me" program increases students’ self-confidence while increasing teacher satisfaction and effectiveness. This, in turn, decreases discipline problems. The program imposes acquisition of practical life skills for the 21st century, and has proven improvement in academic scores. Hardy Oak Elementary is privileged to have been selected to participate in this exemplary program.
